A Letter from the President
Exciting Changes Coming to Your Association
A special meeting will be held during the Central Regional meeting where we can answer questions and you will have the opportunity to vote on the new name and new bylaws. The Central Regional Meeting will be held Thursday, October 17 during the Central Regional Meeting. All are invited to attend with the opportunity to vote and share in this new beginning.

Dear Members,

It is an honor and a privilege to be president of the New Jersey Electronic Security Association at this period in our history. Not only are we celebrating our 50th anniversary but we are now embarking on an exciting new beginning.

You may already be aware that recently the ESA Board of Directors voted to sunset the association´s state chapter program. That means that ESA will now be separate from all the state chapters, including New Jersey. This was their decision, not ours. You can read the announcement at https://esaweb.org/customizing-your-esa-investment-2020-membership-updates/.

While this is a big change, it was an amicable decision that provides both the national association and your state association new opportunities. The New Jersey Electronic Security Association is moving forward!

First, we have decided to change our name. It didn´t seem right to continue as the New Jersey Electronic Security Association (NJESA) since we are no longer connected to National. Recently the board came up with two choices that all members will have a chance to vote on. With the new name we will then come up with a new logo.

Since we are no longer affiliated with ESA, we will also have a new dues structure. Your dues will now go directly to your state association and will allow us to grow and focus even more on state and local issues that directly affect you.

With these changes, the by-laws had to be updated and we did so with the help of Mike Revness. This new document reflects the modifications needed as we are no longer a state chapter of ESA.

A special meeting will be held during the Central Regional meeting where we can answer questions and you will have the opportunity to vote on the new name and new bylaws. The Central Regional Meeting will be held Thursday, October 17 at the Galloping Hill Caterers in Union. All are invited to attend with the opportunity to vote and share in this new beginning.

Meanwhile, we are working hard on new member benefits and focusing even more on issues specific to New Jersey and our members. In the next few weeks, we will be providing you with more specifics of the changes and the new bylaws including an FAQ section.

As I said, this is an exciting time for your New Jersey security association. We may be celebrating 50 years, but I feel this is a new beginning. Stay tuned… the best is yet to come!

Sincerely,

Christine Marzano
